San Diego Science Festival UCSD Bioengineering T-shirt - AI, Screen Printing

From top to bottom:

3. The original concept drawing

My wife Lauren and I collaborated on this t-shirt design for The UCSD Bioengineering Department Science Festival Volunteers. The image is of a heart valve with blood cells flowing through it. Because we were screen printing the t-shirts ourselves we kept the design one color but if we had used two to three colors I think the design would have been clearer. I like the end result and had fun working with Lauren and doing the screen printing together. I'll add a photo of the actual T-shirt shortly.

Online Folio - Web Design

The above images are screen shots of my new online folio. I wanted to keep it simple and clean so that the content is the main focus and I think it works o.k. It is designed to grow over time so I want to do as much quality work this year as possible. I still plan to use this blog for the bulk of my work and to use the online folio for clients etc. Here is the link: www.timjepson.com

Pattie Cakes Logo - Design/Illustration (AI)

This a logo I drew up for a clothing label called Pattie Cakes. The client had a pretty clear vision of what they wanted so it was just a matter of adding a few tweaks here and there and creating the vector artwork using Illustrator.

Yetti Fail/Mora, Minnesota - Photography (PS)

I came across this odd fellow in the woods by my in-laws house. They seemed to have no idea where he came from or how he got up there. Below is the colour version and a couple other photos from that trip.

Dancing Dionysus - Water Colour, December 2010

Dionysus at play. Another attempt at rendering with water colours. It can be tricky using water colours but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I wanted to give the effect that Dionysus is barely there and that he is made of a water-like substance which has set fire during his intoxication.

Ginga Comedian, Louis C.K. - Water Colour, December, 2010

I recently discovered Louis C.K. is not just a random actor but is actually a really hilarious stand-up comedian. My wife and I watched his specials and TV shows then got to see him live a few days ago in San Diego. I found this image online and made a water colour from it. I just wanted to make him as orange as possible. The photographer really caught Louie at the perfect moment because this is very typical of his self-criticizing humour.

This is one of the first proper water colours I've done for a while and it is also the first in a series called Anxiety. In this series I plan to render my anxieties as best I can.
